What is in the scene
The adult swan and the young cygnet face each other closely on the water, making the pair the center of the picture. Reeds and cattails rise on both sides, while lily pads and a large water lily sit in the foreground. Two small hearts float above the birds as a simple Mother's Day decoration. The composition stays centered on a plain white background with no text or numbers, so the shapes of the swans, plants, and water details remain easy to see.
Swan facts
Swans are large waterbirds related to ducks and geese. Young swans are called cygnets. Many swan species form strong pair bonds, and adults care for their young after hatching. Cygnets can swim when they are very young and often stay close to their parents while learning where to feed and rest. Swans use their broad webbed feet to move through the water and their long necks to reach food below or near the surface. Their nests are usually built close to water from plant material.
Color ideas
- Keep the adult swan white or use soft cream and pale gray for gentle feather details.
- Color the cygnet light gray, warm beige, or another soft natural shade.
- Use several greens for the reeds, cattails, and lily pads.
- Make the water lily pink, white, yellow, or purple with a bright center.
- Add soft blue around the water details and color the two hearts red or pink.
