What is in the scene
The two giraffes face inward toward each other, making the bond between the adult and calf the clear center of the picture. Both animals are fully visible and have large outlined spots that leave plenty of room for different color choices. Several simple leaves, one flower, small tufts of grass, and two hearts surround the pair without filling the background. There is no text or numbering, so the animal scene remains the main focus of this Mother's Day card design.
Giraffe facts
Giraffes are the tallest living land animals and are known for their long necks and patterned coats. Every giraffe has its own arrangement of coat patches, much like an individual pattern. Calves are born already tall compared with many other newborn mammals, and they learn to stand and move soon after birth. Giraffes use their long necks and tongues to reach leaves on trees and shrubs. Their large eyes and elevated viewpoint also help them watch the surroundings while feeding.
Color ideas
- Use warm golden yellow or light brown for the giraffes and darker brown for the spots.
- Give the calf a slightly softer shade while keeping the same family color palette.
- Make the leaves different shades of green and the flower pink, red, yellow, or purple.
- Use fresh green for the small grass tufts around the animals.
- Color the two hearts in red, pink, or two different favorite colors.
