A quiet waking-up scene
The dinosaur lies low among several large leaves. Its head is raised just above the leafy bed, while its short forearms rest in front of its body. One eye is open and the other is closed, which gives the scene a clear just-waking-up moment. The long tail curves behind the dinosaur instead of stretching toward the edge of the picture. A small rounded rock sits beside the leaves, and the rest of the background is left open and uncluttered.
Tyrannosaurus facts
Tyrannosaurus rex was a large theropod dinosaur that lived near the end of the Cretaceous Period, about 68–66 million years ago. Adults had powerful hind legs, a massive skull, strong jaws, and very short two-fingered forelimbs. Fossils show us the shapes of bones and teeth, but scientists don't know the exact colors of Tyrannosaurus skin. Young animals also changed greatly as they grew, so a juvenile would not simply be a smaller copy of a fully grown adult.
Color ideas for the scene
- Use moss green, olive, or warm brown for the broad leaves.
- Try tan, rust, gray, or muted green for the young Tyrannosaurus.
- Make the small rock gray, beige, or sandstone brown.
- Add a darker shade along the tail while keeping the belly lighter.
- Give the eye a deep brown, amber, or dark gray accent.
